Dr. Maciak was born in Lodz, Poland. He immigrated to the United States in 1963. While living in the Ironbound Section of Newark he attended and graduated with honors from East Side High School. Dr. Maciak attended Upsala College in East Orange, where he received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology. In 1972, Dr. Maciak joined the Newark Police Department. Most of his years with the Police Department were spent working as a Detective assigned to the Intelligence Unit's Organized Crime Squad. He received numerous commendations for outstanding services to the department and the community.

Feeling that he could contribute more to the community, beyond police duties, Dr. Maciak decided to leave the Police Department and pursue studies in Chiropractic. He graduated, with honors, from Sherman College in 1983.

Initially, he maintained a private practice in Randolph, NJ. However, strong ties in the Newark community prompted him and his partner to open an office in Newark. Health Maintenance Associates, P.C. was the result of this partnership.

The decision to permanently move to Clifton had to do with his Polish heritage and the community"s need for a highly qualified Polish speaking health care practitioner.

Dr. Maciak knows that Clifton and its neighboring communities are comprised of many hard working Polish immigrants who care about their health but often, due to language difficulties, fail to find proper medical attention. His practice provides a complete range of services, the highest quality care, and flexible hours to meet the need of the community. In short, he is providing progressive health care for a hard-working community.
